Hi, I am going to take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself. I have lived in the city of Manassas with my husband, Rex, for the past 30 years. We feel very fortunate to have had the chance to bring up our two children in one of the few small towns that are remaining in northern Virginia. My husband and I have been active in our community in many ways and we share a passion for working with people with disabilities. My husband is the CEO of an organization called Didlake, Inc. which employs people with disablities. Consumers from Didlake work in a variety of settings all over the metropolitan DC, Southwestern Virginia and the Tidewater area.
My children, Adam and Katherine, are now adults and both live in the DC area (for now!). Katherine recently got a teaching degree at George Mason University (my alma mater) and is teaching preschool special education in Prince William County. Adam is a film editor who does free-lance work for different companies, such as Discovery, HBO, etc. I am currently a resource teacher at Woodbine Preschool, where I have been for the past 22 years. This is my fifth year as the resource teacher based at Old Bridge Preschool. I feel so fortunate to have a job that is so enjoyable! It is often challenging, but always rewarding. Hilliary Clinton reminded us that "it takes a village to raise a child". I truly feel that the partnership we have between Woodbine Preschool and Old Bridge Preschool and with you, the parents, creates a wonderful village for our children. | |
